Dee
Burt Holmes is an artist specializing in oil painting and
fine art printmaking. Dee Burt Holmes is an artist specializing
in oil and fine art printmaking. Using these mediums she enjoys
expressing the beauty of the landscape through the seasons
in the Goldsmith Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary. Her inspiration
is derived from observing the changes in the lighting, colors
and atmosphere throughout the year. The award-wining artist
has her work in numerous public and private collections in
the United States, Canada, France and Spain. She was the Panoply
poster artist in 2004 and was included in the "Huntsville
Sketchbook" in 2006.
Holmes
is a member of the Mid America Print Council, the Sanctuary
Artists and the Huntsville Art League. She serves as a member
of the Huntsville Art League Advisory Board working with the
organization to establish the first "Unique Views of
Huntsville" juried exhibition.
As
a member of Esposicio del Mini Print Internacional de Cadaques
in Spain she has had etchings accepted in the international
juried competition. Holmes is also a member of The Committee,
a group of ten women artists participating in exhibitions.
She
is a graduate of Auburn University with a BS in Clothing and
Textiles with a minor in Art. She continued her studies at
the University of Alabama in Huntsville receiving a teachering
certification in elementary education. After a career in teaching
she returned to UAH to concentrate on printmaking with Michael
Crouse.
Holmes
is represented by Artistic Images Art Gallery and the Huntsville
Museum of Art shop in Huntsville, Alabama, and by the Meridian
Arts in Gurley, Alabama.
